Hotel Berlin, Berlin focuses sustainably on the future

The hotel's environmental management is now certified with ISO 14001

Berlin, August 4, 2020 - The Hotel Berlin, Berlin has been awarded the ISO 14001 certificate. The international standard for environmental management systems stands for sustainable management and care in the use of resources. The certificate confirms ongoing improvements - from the planning of measures, their implementation and maintenance to the achievement of new goals. The process benefits the environment and the company by significantly reducing energy consumption and disposal costs, among other things.

The requirements for the ISO 14001 standard are adapted to the respective industry and the work areas of different companies. The environmental team of the Hotel Berlin, Berlin has formulated clear goals. Thus, the implementation of the new standards focused on the sustainable use of resources and hazardous materials management. The use of renewable energies such as an own photovoltaic system, a sustainable purchasing policy and the introduction of regular audits, were other important priorities. The key figures now set for monitoring energy and water consumption, the use of cleaning agents, the amount of waste and the proportion of recycled materials, as well as the need for guest laundry, have since been consistently adhered to.

Frank Rücker, General Manager General Manager Frank Rücker says, "Not only has the external image of the Hotel Berlin, Berlin improved as a result of the additional commitment to environmental protection. The motivation and environmental commitment of our employees has also grown. Various training courses have enormously expanded their awareness of environmentally relevant structures and processes.
